Join Jeremiah and Kevin as they cook up a Wasteland classic: Cram, the canned meat you'll find in just about every pre-war pantry.

In the episode
Kevin cooked the main course while we got a little tipsy on our Dirty Wastelanders. It's real simple: open the can, slide out a giant hunk of meat, and slice it up. Aged over 200 years, which only makes it better. We also noted it kind of smells like dog food.
The slices sizzled for five or six minutes, got a nice crisp, and flipped for a couple more minutes so both sides were crunchy.
One of us had never had Cram before, and the verdict was shockingly good for being as old as it is. Really salty, but really good, and the perfect partner for a pile of pork and beans.
Crispy Pan-Fried Spam
Cram
The simplest wasteland staple: canned Spam, sliced and pan-fried until crisp. Cram, just like the Vault-Tec rations.
Ingredients
- 1 12-oz can Spam, sliced 1/4 to 3/8 inch thick
- 1 tsp neutral oil, optional
Optional glaze
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
Instructions
Slice the Spam thin to medium.
Heat a skillet over medium-high heat, with a teaspoon of oil if you like (the Spam renders its own fat).
Lay in the slices and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, until browned and crisp underneath.
Flip and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes, until the second side is crisp too.
For a glaze, stir the brown sugar and soy sauce together and add it in the last minute, flipping the slices until sticky. Serve hot.
Notes
Great next to Bacon Baked Beans. A spoonful of Cola BBQ Sauce also makes a good glaze.
